Italy(Away) and France(Away) - Season B Opening Weekend

Post  mouseonfire on Fri May 03, 2013 9:54 am

Italy up today we will be normaling. I've been going over the away game we lost to Italy and I assume that Italy will use the same tactics again. We were caught with a lot of interceptions and we gained territory very easily. I reckon that they were drifting. Therefore I've brought down the expansive and brought back up the driving. We will be going aggressive to stay dominant at the ruck. To give ourselves a little more muscle I've brought in Carey and MacCrory to the front row.

A bit too 50/50 split do you not think?

You mean the tactics? What adjustments would you suggest?

Not sure to be honest, I'd probably reduce creative by 3 and move 3 to P&G if they are Drifting

Yeah I'll drop an extra two to PnG and one to Driving. I hope they drift again.

so what's the plan for France?

without overkill we have to overcome their high tech aggressive.

we're going to need our best combination of discipline and technique without playing with any weaknesses to get it.

France destroyed Scotland, that was a huge victory on normal! Scotland were blown off the field with penalties

We won't be playing a team with half that quality or we'll have an energy advantage

Yes, I use the same template which saves a little time. But yes, they're only what I expect the team to be so they are filled in manually.

Just a quick note to say Doyles will not be replacing Flaherty at this stage for two reasons he didn't get higher stars than him on Friday and his form is also falling.

This will be the team we play tomorrow I reckon, no idea for tactics at this stage:

we need to decide if were going aggressive or normal, after that wont have much choices

also that French XV is wishful thinking imo, their firsts are on supercharged, they then have Spain on Friday and England next sunday

Let's assume worst case scenario, they hit us with their A side. I think their game plan will be to hit us up front. Therefore I think we need to ping the corners and hit them with aggressive. If they get possesion in our half they'll rumble forward and the penalty count will fly up.

In terms of attack we must hit them in in the backs. We have a very fast pack and can manage such a game, we move their pack and they'll leak penalties. That's what I'm thinking. They may drift so we can't go overboard on expansive.

What do you think?

Yeah I'm going MOM, I think I said they might drift. Wink

I'm thinking about using:

PnG 31
Driving 12
Expansive 21
Creative 36

A little less PnG as we were caught badly using too much PnG a little while ago against France.

No Clampett, we'll get turned over in our own half and hammered by their huge pack until they march to our line or we concede, the latter is more likely and if you look at the Scottish match this was the exact situation that Scotland faced, they also picked the wrong defence. This is a kick to the corners match. I've three big experienced kickers saved up for this match for a reason.

Ruck rating of Frances is annoying, hopefully they don't crush us there
